In the spring of 1982 ten year old Daniel Edwards lost his left hand in a lawn mower accident. Just days following the accident, Dr. Joseph Gilhooley made history by attaching an orangutan hand to Edwards. Defying the odds, the transplant proved successful, until nine months later when young Daniel's body suddenly rejected the foreign organ, forcing doctors to remove it. Atrophy of the muscles had caused the hand to clench up in a fist-like manner.
During this nine month period Danny was often teased and called a variety of nicknames. One being "MonkeyFist".
26 years later MonkeyFist is launched.
